Zahra couldn’t believe the turn of events. She had longed to go to Hogwarts, begged her adoptive parents to send her there instead of Beauxbattons when they moved to France on business. Had she gone to Hogwarts she could have seen her brother again. He was in his fifth year when she was taken, she had only been ten and had no idea that she was magical. Any accidental magic had been over looked by their parents, just like Jamie’s had.
It just seemed ironic that it was this year they moved back to England, she had just started her fourth year, and Jamie had left the year before. Had she not known that her ‘parents’ had no idea of her brother being magical then she would have thought they planned it. She never got to see Jamie at school he was already gone. And he could have been anywhere. She would owl him… had she been allowed an owl. Her adoptive parents…. Well they weren’t so happy about her magic.
They thought that she was a freak. She had turned eleven a few months after she had been adopted by them, and they found out she was, in fact, a witch. She knew that had they known about her being ‘special’ they would never have adopted her. They had two other children of their own, a twelve year old boy, David, and a fourteen year old girl, Sohpia. They had insisted on calling her by her middle name, Marie, claiming that it was more intone with their family. Boring was what they meant. She had tried hard to impress them for the first few years, she had ignored Sophia calling her a freak and David’s constant stream of shoving and pushing.
However by the time she hit thirteen she stopped caring, she started becoming more… rebellious, she didn’t come home for any holiday but summer, when she had to. She started hanging out with the ‘wrong crowd’ at school. She had been drunk more times than she could remember, she kissed boys and had even experimented with weed. She did everything that she knew her adoptive family would hate. She knew that Beauxbattons was probably happy to see the back of her. When she started at Hogwarts she went to the headmaster on the first day, politely requesting that her name be changed from Marie Harrison back to her pre-adoption name, Zahra Daven.
She didn’t want to be a member of their family. She didn’t really want to be a member of her family either. But she did want Jay. He had looked after her, well, he had when he was there. When he left for school she was stuck with her other rough housing brothers and the absentee brother. That and their useless parents. She wanted to get in contact with Jamie, but was terrified. He hadn’t fought for her. She had expected him to fight for her, she hero worshiped him, she expected him to come for her for months, but he never did. She hated him for it for a while. Then, as she got older, she realised that he would have had no way to find her, no way to get the child services to talk.
She kicked at a rock on the ground, she was wandering Hogsmeade, it was a lot more amazing than Jamie had described, it all was really. Jamie wasn’t exactly one to convey wonder, he just said it was better than home and was done with it. She sat down at a fountain, looking around, just thinking about life, herself. She wanted to make friends here at Hogwarts, but she was a muggleborn in Slytherin. It didn’t matter as much as it had in the old days, of course not. But blood status was still an issue in Slytherin; that much was obvious. She sighed and ran her fingers through her dark hair, watching the over excited teens wander Hogsmeade dashing in and out of shops in their little groups. She half wished she was one of them.

Jamie sighed as he apparated to Hogsmead, the familiar sight being one that he had spent many a late night prowling. He practically called it his turf, even though there was really no fight over rights to area in a quaint town like that but still, it was satisfying to know that he could stalk the streets and not be bothered about people giving him troubles. So being back was nostalgic, maybe he'd even drop into the Shrieking Shack to see his old room there.
His visit here was on demand from Abby who had asked him to get her some chocolate covered something or other, he'd figure out what it was later. That or he could just buy out one of everything and then let her pick which one it was. He was still cashing in with the fight club which was on once or twice a month and he was one of th best fighters there, always gaining high odds which usually swung in his favour. Abby still didn't know thankfully, she thought he was working down at the gym as a trainer and helper there.
After Hogwarts Jamie had put his name down for the Royal English Army Force, something which Abby also didn't know. It had been on a whim, he had been approached on the street one day when he was just mindlessly wandering by a recruit who had asked if he wanted to sign up. He had always had thought about joining the army, it always seemed like something he could actually excell in, hurting people. But, he was only a recruit, they wouldn't be calling on him or anything, he only attended the training sessions which were on three times a week when Abby was away at Mungos for work.
Sighing as he rolled his shoulders after landing within the town, Jamie made his way towards HoneyDukes, the kids running about making a nerve in his brow twitch. He hoped to god that none of them would run into him, he didn't want to have deal with little annoying brats today.

Zahra say people watching, Hogwarts really was different from Beauxbattons. They didn't seem to have an Elite. The Elite had ruled Beauxbattons. Here they just all seemed to go about in their little groups, happy as clam. They didn't have a hierarchy. It was strange. Zahra had become so accustomed to it. She had been a part of it, pretty high up for someone her own age, most people as high up as she was were sixth or seventh years, the age group she had hung around with.
Here, people stuck with their own years mostly, they all seemed happy in the chaos. She really did need to find a group, preferably an older group, kids her own age irritated her, especially the boys. They were like over grown infants. Zahra ran a hard through her long her and scuffed her worn converse in the dirt. She was watching the people around her, trying to work out which group she wanted to try to infiltrate. That was when she saw it. A man apparate into Hogsmeade.
She stood immediately, staring at him, walking like he had a mission. It couldn't be.... but it looked exactly like him. A little taller, a little more muscled but it was him. She was sure of it. Holy shit. That could not be her Jamie. Just by chance seeing him? Did that even happen? She was practically hyperventilating. Would he even recognise her? She wasn't exactly the pigtail wearing, girl he had left. She wasn't wearing her favourite pink t-shit and the dungaree's with the flower on the pocket. She wasn't the ten year old who had begged him not to go back to school anymore.
She ran a hand through her long dark wavey hair and ran a finger under her eye, making sure her eyeliner was still in place. She checked her outfit, just plain jeans and a black tanktop and then glanced back at the man. All of this happened in the space of about five seconds. "Jamie!" She called out, desperation in her voice. If he turned then it was Jamie. Her brother, the one who looked after her. If he didn't, she was a fool and would just have to get on with it.

Jamie strolled down past the foutain which was centered in the middle of the main street of Hogsmead which most of the main shops opened onto, side stepping as some kids ran past excitedly. Damn those fuckin' firsties, Jamie thought to himself. He didn't hate kids, he actually did pretty well with them despite his temper but he really just didn't want to have to deal with all the giggling and high pitched laughter that came with being 11. It was something he'd rather not have to remember, pre-puberty was pretty horrific for Jamie who had been glad once he had hit his growth spurt.
As he was approaching his destination he heard a voice call out his name over the rabble, the sound resounding within his head. It was familiar, something like a distant memory yet he could recall the sound as clear as day. But it couldn't be her, she was long gone, wiped from the slates as the muggle social workers had hidden all her files and locations from the cabinets. Jamie had tried to find her, he had spent so long searching to only come up with nil so he had given up all hopes of ever finding his sister.
He turned on his heels slowly, his eyes searching from the source of the voice. He was immedietly drawn to a small girl, her hair in waves as her eyes stared right at him. Could it be... Jamie inhaled a sharp breath, just staring at the young girl who stood there. She was taller than he remembered, her round face had morphed into delicate features and her hair had grown out longer than he could recall it ever being.
Crossing the distance of the street to where she stood by the fountain he stood before her, looking down with awe in his eyes. "Zahra..." Jamie breathed out, his face slowly reaching out to touch her cheek, as if to check she was indeed real and not some figment of his imagination.

Zahra watched as the man she had recognised stopped when she called out for her brother. Oh Merlin. It was him, holy hypogriffs! Zahra was shocked, he was there, staring at her, the same bewildered, disbelieving look on his face that she was sure was reflected on her face. She felt like she was dreaming, she had dreamed things similar to this before, millions of times, dreaming that Jamie would come and get her. It was her favourite daydream when she was younger.
Now he was here. Wasn't he? She wasn't dreaming, Zahra thought back over her day, it wasn't a dream, she had gotten up, had breakfast walked her, she pinched herself just to be sure. But no, this was actually happening. He was actually here. Zahra felt instantly felt a lot younger than fourteen, it was like she was ten years old again, and Jamie was home. Oh my god, it was Jamie. Her Jamie, her big brother. He was walking towards her, she couldn't believe this was actually happening. She stared at him, he was right before him, her eyes filled with tears. Everything that she had wanted for the last four years was here. She was actually seeing him. She couldn't believe it. Then his hand reached out and touched her cheek and it was all real.
He breathed her name and tears spilled over her eyes. "JayJay," She half sobbed throwing herself into his arms. She felt like a little girl, young and vulnerable, just like she had been when he left for school, the last time she saw him, when she begged him not to leave her. She hugged him tightly, breathing in his familiar scent, realising that it was actually him, it was actually her big brother and he was there.

Jamie couldn't believe his eyes. He had to refrain from slapping himself just to make sure it wasn't just a dream, some sick twisted mirage which was before him. He had lost her in 5th year when he had recieved that letter informing him of her removal from their house in downtown London, their parents hadn't even noticed the disapearance of their youngest child. It had been the Ministry who had contacted him, they having intercepted the letter which had been addressed to the fake address of Hogwarts which was given to the muggles so they wouldn't be suspicious about a school without an address.
Zahra, his little sister. The girl who he had been caring for since she was born. She was so small, even now as he stood before her she was still shorter than him, a whole lot shorter than him. But she was what, 13, 14 now? She would have grown up a bit, filled out a little two. She wasn't so stick thin anymore, and she had ditched the pony tails as well. She had changed yet she hadn't changed. She was Zahra yet she wasn't the Zahra that he used to know, no, this Zahra was grown up Zahra, and Jamie was a little afraid that she wouldn't remember him.
That feeling of uncertainty was banished when she threw her arms around him, her old nickname for him spilling forth from her lips. Wrapping his thick arms around the small frame he picked her up, settling her withing his arms as he let her sit slightly on one forearm as the other one supported her back. "Zee Zee," he said with a rare grin, it lit up his whole face. "I can't believe it's you...it's really you...I..." Jamie swallowed the lump which had formed in his throat, this really was all such a shock it was quite hard to believe he had found her again.
They were probably making a scene of themselves right there in the middle of the street but truthfully, Jamie didn't give a flying fuck about what other people thought at that moment. He had his little baby sister back and he was going to damn well rejoice in the fact, and that meant holding her like there was no tommorow.

Zahra was in shock, complete shock, Jamie seemed to be the same. He lifted her up into his arms, just like he had when she was a little girl. He still did it so effortlessly. Zahra knew that she was stick thin, she didn't weigh that much, but her big brother being able to lift her like it was effortless still amazed her. She didn't even notice the tears spilling down her face, Zahra didn't cry. She hated it, it was a weakness. She hadn't cried since she turned twelve. She didn't think it benefited her any. Yet here she was, completely overwhelmed with emotion and crying, clinging to Jamie like she was a little girl.
He was holding her, a genuine smile on his face, she reached out touching his face, as though not believing that he was real. She really couldn't, it was insane, completely so. But he was here, and holding her, expressing his disbelief that it was her. The feeling was mutual. She really didn't care that everyone could see them right now. She was the new kid at Hogwarts and they had no idea that she hadn't seen her big brother for four years, that she had thought she would never see him again.
She didn't care about any of them, she didn't spare them a thought, she just hid her face in Jamie's neck, like she had as a little girl when she was overwhelmed or scared. Soft sobs were escaping her body, she didn't even notice, it was like she was in a trans almost. "I can't believe you're here." She said, her voice sounding younger and more wobbly than she would have liked. She wrapped her thin arms around his neck and was hugging him as tightly as she could, feeling him there. It was the best day she could remember. She couldn't remember being this happy. She had her Jamie back.
Jamie was there. Would he still want her though? Doubt settled in her mind, what if he didn't want to see her? If he hadn't tried to look for her and didn't want her?

Jamie could feel the tears from Zahra's eyes on his neck as she buried her face in the crook of his shoulder as he held her tightly. Four years, four years since he had seen her last, since he had held her, four years since he had last laid his eyes on his baby sister. He was suprised at how thin she was, so light just like she had been earlier and that worried him a little. Was she eating enough? He hoped to all heavens that the family she had been placed with were treating her well otherwise there would be hell to pay.
As Zahra copied his earlier action of placing her hand against his face he turned his face into her palm, kissing the skin softly. He probably looked like the biggest creeper in that moment but he was so overwhelmed with seeing Zahra again he was suprised he hadn't started to cry yet. He felt that familiar sting at the back of his eyes however and he supressed the urge to let the salty liquid spill from his brown orbs. Jamie hated to cry, he only had ever cried before Abby, let alone a whole public area full of people all in plain sight.
"Why are you here Zahra? Aren't you...weren't you..." Jamie trailed off, talking about the fact that she was in Hogsmead, a strictly magical town which didn't make sense because he was the only muggleborn in the family. He brushed a stray bit of hair away, kissing her forehead. "I'm so fuckin glad I found you again Zee...so glad..."

Zahra felt Jamie kiss her palm when she touched her face, she was just so overwhelmed, tears streaming down her cheeks, she pushed them away, hoping that her eyeliner was as waterproof as it claimed to be, she didn't want to look like a raccoon. She needed her make up to help her to look older, else she would look like an eleven year old again. She would look almost as young as she had last time she saw Jamie. She could see a look of concern on his face when he was holding her, she couldn't for the life of her work out why. So she just buried her head back in the crook of his neck.
"I was adopted, then when I turned eleven I got sent to Beauxbattons." She told him, her voice still weak. "This is my first year at Hogwarts." She told him, answering is unasked question. "Surprise, I'm a witch." She said, a watery smile on her face. She smiled when he said that he was glad that he found her again. "I can't believe it," She told him, her eyes scanning over him completely.
Fear shook her voice when she asked him her next question, her eyes wide and fearful, making her look younger than ever. "You won't leave me again, right?"

"I got a letter saying you had been taken by child services..." Jamie said softly, his tone pained as he recalled that moment when he had read the letter. At first it had been shock and anger, how dare they take his sister from him, those bloody people thinking they could own the whole place. He had taken out his anger within the office of child services, going crazy as he literally trashed the place. Aurors had to be called and they obliviated everyone who was there. That was the first time Jamie had spent the night in the holding cell in the Azkaban. They had let him out the next day with a warning after he had told them his reasons, but it still had been to no avail on finding information on Zahra.
It had taken him a while to come to terms with the fact that his baby sister was gone, but after a while he had begun to believe that it was for the best. She would have a proper family now, parents who weren't constantly stoned and drunk, siblings who weren't in jail, estranged, street fighters, or already ten feet below. Sure, he would have wanted to have looked after Zahra just as he had while she was growing up but he was sure that wherever she was she was happy. That was what he had told himself, to ease some of the guilt which came with knowing he hadn't been there to do anything.
"So two magical fuckers in the Daven family," Jamie said with a snort, "go mum and dad." He was being sarcastic, but it was still a slight shock to know that Zahra was magical, he had always thought it to only be him. At her words, Jamie shook his head, letting his forehead rest against hers which was easy since he was holding her up. "I promise I won't...not after I've found you again."

Zahra could hear the pain in her brothers voice when he told her that he had been sent a letter by the child services, saying that she had been taken away from her family and taken into Care. She knew it must have been hard for him, it hadn't exactly been a cake walk for her either. She had spent a few months being moved from house to house, family to family, some welcoming, others not so much. Care had been horrible. She was ripped away from her family- granted they hadn't been the best, but it had been home. And Jamie was there through the holidays for her.
By the time she was adopted she had pretty much come to accept that she wasn't going to get to see her family anymore. It was just how it was. So seeing Jamie now. It was like a dream come true, she was clinging to him like she was four rather than fourteen but she didn't care. If she let him go then maybe he would disappear and it would all be a dream. She couldn't risk it. She let out a watery chuckle when he said that there were two magical fuckers in the Daven family and nodded. She rolled her eyes when Jamie sarcastically complimented their parents.
She asked him if he was going to leave her, he seemed shocked at the very idea of it. Her forehead was resting against his, her face seemed so much smaller than Jamies. She relaxed when he said that he wasn't going to leave her, not now that he had found her again. She hugged him again, not quite able to believe that he was there. "You won't make me go back to them will you?" She asked, hopeful, wanting to be with her brother again, scared to have to go back to the family who clearly did not welcome her.

Jamie had lost alot of hope when he had recieved that letter, he still recalled being handed it by the owl which had come to find him since he had been absent from breakfast. It had been a shocking blow, and the thought of his sister had pained him for many long nights. He should have been there for her, he was her big brother afterall but he hadn't been. He had failed her, and he had failed himself. The loss of Zahra had made him feel as it it had all been his fauly, and that had made him believe even less of himself than he already did.
"No...I'll keep you Zaza, I'll look after you," he pressed a kiss to her hair, one hand cradling the back of her head. He wouldn't let anyone, muggle or magical near his sister. If they tried to take her away from him he'd go nuts. They weren't about to take his baby sister away from him a second time. There is no second time with Jamie Daven, he wouldn't stand for it.
He had to pause for a second. What if Zahra was happy with her new family? He couldn't just take her away, no matter how much he may want to, Zahra's happiness always came first. Jamie had to think of her too, as he added softly, "of course that is only if you wanted to come back to me of course."

Zahra felt relief flood through her when Jamie said that he wouldn't make her go back to them, that he would look after her, calling her Zaza like he had when she was a baby, back in her first memories. She was so grateful that he wanted to keep her, he sounded sincere. He was going to keep her, she was getting her Jamie back. She was completely shocked when he suggested that she might not want to go back with him. There was nothing more in the world that she wanted than to be with him.
"Of course I want to come back to you!" She said, the shock obvious in her voice. She though he would know that she wanted to go back to him. She hated her 'family' they hated her. It wasn't home. She had never really had a home. But she could have one with Jamie, she was overwhelmed and excited at the prospect. " Jamie why wouldn't I? I need you, I just got you back, you can't send me back to them!"
