Jamie buttoned up his tuxedo, checking himself over in the full length mirror within the Slytherin boy's bathroom. He fixed his cheap mask from some store to his face, a mask which he had scared the owner of the store into giving him 80% off the original price. Checking that the mask was right on his face in his reflection, Jamie nodded to himself in the mirror, slipping on a ring on his right index finger, a compensation gift from a guy whom thought he could mess with Jamie Daven. Well, Jamie had showed him just how wrong he was with a dislocated shoulder and a busted eye socket.
People who knew Jamie were curious as to why the Slytherin was even going to go to the Masquerade Ball which was being held this night. There was only one reason, and that was a blonde Ravenclaw whom Jamie had met a few nights back as he saved her from being attacked by a group of drunks down at the Shrieking Shack. He had then spent the night with the girl as the gates to Hogwarts had already closed and Jamie had taken it upon himself to at least make sure the girl returned to the castle safely. Which she did the next day as Jamie walked her to the main gates before he himself left back for Hogsmead for a late brunch which he had then proceeded to pay with more compensation money.
Making sure at least looked presentable, Jamie left the dorms, heading towards the ballroom as his boots clacked against the stone flooring, the candles which lined the walls casting shadows across the cool stone. He felt strange in the suit -which albeit he had bought in hopes that his parents or brother, whoever came first, would drop dead and Jamie would have something to wear to their probably not so mournful funeral- as he thanked his reasoning to not wear a tie. He left the top two buttons open of his grey ironed shirt which he had gotten a younger Slytherin boy to do magically.
He was only wearing the damn thing to maybe -he hoped- catch a glimpse of the Ravenclaw girl who was probably attending. Jamie moved his neck from side to side, satisfied at the crack which resounded out in the hallway and made a few younger children walking before him jump at the sound. Jamie smirked to himself, seeing the people gathered around the entrance to the ballroom as the Slytherin 7Th year pushed his shoulders back and walked in with his head held high, making his tower over everyone else even more significantly. Walking over to one of the tables which had been placed for eating, Jamie pulled out a chair, surveying the brightly lit room as people chatted around him.
Jamie didn't care for them though, he only had thing on his mind as he scanned the room for any sight of the girl who had been haunting his thoughts for the past few days and nights. Finally, he recognized a familiar face -which he could recognize even with the mask- as he felt himself inhale sharply. Abby looked absolutely stunning and so beautiful. Beautiful...what the fuck is wrong with you Jamie Daven? When the fuck have you ever thought a girl to be beautiful!? old Jamie berated mentally but Jamie dismissed these words as he let his eyes unconsiouly trail after the girl.
Jamie leant his elbow against the tabletop, resting his chin within his palm as he watched the girl from a distance, knowing that this was as close as he was going to get.

Abby stood in front of the mirror, she was primping and she knew it. It was so unusual for her, usually Abby got dressed and left. It was her best friend Care that was bothered with appearances. But tonight was different. Abby had asked Caroline to do her hair. It was up in an almost beehive quiff thingie (as Care called it) and in loose curls down her back. She was wearing makeup much more intricately than usual. She had even taken the time to match her whole outfit up shoes, accessories, mask. They all matched. Abby was sure it was the first time she had shopped in such a way. Caroline had asked what was so special about this ball. Why did she make an effort this time? How did she answer that?
The truthful reason was Jamie. The tall brooding Slytherin. The knight in shining armor that you'd never have seen coming. He had saved her the last weekend from a group of drunks. They had spent the night together, curled up in the same bed. Abby had woken with his arms wrapped tight around her waist, he was still asleep, protective even then. Abby had grinned and blushed laying still until Jamie woke up. He had walked her back to the castle leaving her at the gates.
That day Abby had made up with her friends, things had taken a turn for the better in her life. But that boy stuck in her mind. And now she was ready to see him again, her hair and make up done. Her dress perfect.
Abby walked down to the Ball Room, she glanced around. It was beautiful, the prefects had decorated it perfectly. Abby adored the balloons and the layout of the tables. Glancing around she saw couples dancing including Jason Louis and Juliet Ames. After everything that had happened Abby was surprised the two dared show their faces together. But then again they were perfect for each other! Equally as spiteful.
Abby saw Caroline and Gabe together but her eyes were still sweeping the room.
Then she saw him. He was sitting at a table, looking directly at her. Jamie was wearing a suit, looking much smarter than the last time Abby had seen him when he was wearing a leather jacket- one which Abby still had to return to him. He was looking at her in a way no person had ever looked at Abby before. Her tummy erupted in butterflies.
Abby walked over to the table he was sitting at.
"Um, hi," Abby said, nervous. "I just wanted to say thank you, for the other night I mean. What you did, it was great. I just, I mean, yeah, I just wanted to say that." Abby was stuttering, she felt so foolish, a blush painted her cheeks. "Also, I still need to return your jacket to you." She added with a cheeky smile.

As Jamie watched Abby look around the room, his own gaze drawn to her like a moth to the flame. Soon though, their gazes locked and she was staring right at the seated Slytherin who was staring right back. Was she looking for him or did she just happen to glance his way? Jamie felt his heart beat jump slightly at the first suggestion, somehow feeling happy that Abby may have been looking for him. The latter though, made his heart sink in his chest, and slight anger bubble up. What if she was looking for another guy? What if she was waiting for another guy?
Jamie felt so much anger course through him with that thought, he didn't want Abby to be with another guy, let alone look at another guy when Jamie was right there. He felt so possessive and controlling, but Jamie couldn't get rid nor dismiss these feelings as he tried to ignore the way he felt about the now approaching Ravenclaw girl. When she was walking over, Jamie felt his eyes be drawn to the dress which floated around her knees, swishing with every step she took, and then travel upwards until he was staring at Abby in the face once more.
When Abby stopped before him and spoke, he could see the eyes of other students be drawn to the strangely paired couple who were there, and Jamie knew what they were wondering. Why was the nice girl Abby Cole talking to bad boy Jamie Daven right? When Abby ran her fingers over her dress, Jamie felt his gaze be drawn to the thin fingers slidding over the soft looking material, as he turned his eyes away, running his fingers through his hair as he tried to clear his throat.
"My jacket...oh..." Jamie said, having forgotten all about the jacket he let the girl keep. Tilting his head to the side he lifted one shoulder in a half shrug, saying, "you can just give it to me sometime." Jamie who was still sitting down looked over Abby from head to foot as he said softly, his voice growing tender with emotion, "you look beautiful..."

Abby felt so many eyes on her back as she stood before Jamie. She could almost hear the accusing whispers in their eyes. Why would anyone look at her. Why was the resident bad ass even looking at the goodie goodie Abby Cole. But she didn't even care for once. Abby saw Jamie's eyes sweep over her body, taking in all of her outfit in great scrutiny. When she approached to talk Jamie had looked shocked, had he not remembered her? Well Abby supposed that wouldn't be so strange, he probably saved plenty of girls at the dead of night in Hogsmeade. He was like a superhero that way.
Jamie replied to her earlier comment on Abby still hoarding the jacket, saying she could just give it back sometime. It wasn't like she had worn it round her dorm or anything. Of course not.... Jamie tilted his head to the side he lifted on shoulder in a half shrug, and said.
That seemed like an open invitation to see him again, Jamie didn't demand that Abby return to her dorm and retrieve the jacket, he didn't even seem to mind that she had it! And it was quite a nice jacket as well! If it had been Abby's she would have been looking for it.
He told her she was beautiful, catching the blonde completely off guard. The words came softly, tenderly, and from Jamie's mouth. Abby was shocked. No one, no one had ever called her beautiful before. Not like that. Not in the same situations, not with such passion and kindness in their tone. Abby blushed and looked down at the floor, her hands gripping either side of her dress, keeping her grounded.
"Thank you," She whispered. She wasn't sure what to say really. "You look great too, formal wear really suits you." She said. There was a slightly awkward pause where Abby didn't know what to say, so she just looked out at the dance floor. She saw Care and Gabe dancing in their own little bubble and several people sneaking glances at both Abby and Jamie, which made Abby feel a little uncomfortable. She wasn't really sure what to do.

Jamie had frozen at what he had said, cursing himself at the fact that those words spilled from his lips. He looked at Abby, waiting for her to yell at him to stop being a creep or stalk away from him angrily, but her reaction was the opposite to whatever Jamie had imagined within his mind. Abby blushed bright red as she whispered out her thanks. She seemed so taken aback by what he had said, it wasn't as if he was the first to say it though, right? Abby was far to pretty to not have had a boyfriend at least...not like Jamie would do anything to him...maybe.
"Uh...thanks?" Jamie said in reply to Abby's compliment, not really ever having worn a suit, this being the first time ever since he bought it. He wasn't a big fan of suits and stuff, too constricting, you can't fight in a suit. Unless you're James Bond, but Jamie pushed that thought aside of his childhood hero. Who didn't want to be a superspy? Jamie brought himself back to reality as he looked at Abby was brown eyes, his head quirked slightly to the side.
She seemed uncomfortable as she looked around the room. Jamie, not wanting Abby to fret looked around as well, his eyes narrowed into a glare as he near but growled out to some people looking over at them, "what the fuck you looking at huh? Fuck off asshole and go ming your own fucking business." Jamie glared at the man, wanting him to just leave the him and Abby the fuck alone.
Standing up with a small sigh, he ended up at full height, towering over Abby as he grabbed her smaller hand, walking off as he pulled her behind him, knowing now they were attracting a whole lot more attention. Eventually coming to a stop where there was no one around, the two off at the far corner of the room where there was nothing but a few couches. Sitting down, he continued to hold Abby's hand as he looked at her through the holes in his mask. He didn't know why he did what he did next, but it was as if his mind had lost all control over his body, his actions driven on pure whim.
He tugged on Abby's arm, wanting to girl to fall into his lap as he pulled her close, pressing his chest up against her back. He was suddenly glad for the fact that he was sitting on the couch facing the wall, meaning that his back was to the ballroom. It gave him some privacy at least. Bending down, he rested his chin atop of Abby's head, his thick arms wrapped around her thin waist stopping her from escaping.

Jamie seemed aware of Abby's discomfort, he glared at the people surrounding them, something Abby didn't dare to do! Before, half shouting and swearing at those around them. He yelled that the crowd that continuously threw the couple a mix of curious and disgusted glances.
"Jamie!" Abby whispered, she hadn't heard him talk like that before, he was always so soft spoken around her. Abby placed a hand on his arm in an attempt to calm him down. Jamie stood up, standing he towered over Abby making her feel smaller than she actually was in her five' four" glory. Jamie grabbed Abby's hand, her own slipping easily into his. He led, well more like pulled, Abby across that room, not that she was complaining. Abby was just confused. What was going on? What was Jamie doing? Abby felt like she was Alice and had just arrived in wonderland. Everything was new and strange. That was the world of boys to her. Abby could feel people staring at her and Jamie, even more than before.
"Jamie, where are we going?" Abby whispered, but Jamie didn't reply. He stopped dead, obviously where he wanted to be. He sat down on one of the couches. Abby stood there for a moment unsure as to what to do. Then Jamie grabbed her by the waist and pulled her down onto his lap, wrapping his arms around her waist, holding her still. People were still staring at them, but Jamie just rested his chin atop Abby's head. Abby was completely caught off guard, she wasn't sure what to do, so she just sat there. Abby was uncomfortably aware that even in her heels when she sat on Jamie's lap she could barely reach the ground.
"What are you doing?" Abby asked quietly as she laid her head in the crook of his neck. She guessed they might be there for a while so she made herself comfortable. Abby reached up and started to run her fingers through Jamie's hair, playing with it. A habit she had picked up from playing with Gabes blonde locks.

Jamie had snapped at the people who were staring at them, Abby's discomfort making him want to protect her as he let his usual attitude and temper reign briefly. Usually Jamie was always like that, angry, bitter, twisted. But around Abby Jamie seemed for once at ease, here mere presence there with him soothing. That and he didn't want to scare her either. That night a few days back had changed him -only towards Abby of course- but Jamie sort of liked this Ravenclaw girl who he had saved.
He had been tender and caring towards the girl that night, the first time ever that Jamie has been, well, kind. She had been shaken up and scared so Jamie had helped her out of necessity of the fact that if he didn't she'd be hurt or even worse, killed. At first, he had helped her unconsciously, the girls tear streaked face cracking the frozen ice which sheilded his frozen heart which he had fenced off from emotions. But he had felt something strange that night, and as Jamie sat with Abby in his lap, he suddenly felt whole and for once -other than being with Rory or Xavier- Jamie felt like he belonged.
Letting Abby rest her head in the space between his shoulder and his neck, Jamie shifted slightly, getting comfortable on the sofa. He wanted to talk to Abby. Talk about these...feelings and his outrageous actions which he seemed to have no control over, acting on pure impulses. Jamie felt her fingers entangle within his brunette locks, leaning into the hand as he closed his eyes, a sigh escaping his thin lips as he let the soothing motion wash over him. It felt nice, her fingers playing with his hair as he leant back in his seat, slouching slightly as he pulled Abby back with him as well. Opening his eyes, Jamie looked down at Abby and said, "Abby...I, I know that you are probably scared of me, fuck if I was in your position I wouldn't even be talking to me...but I can't get you out of my head...I don't know what the fuck is wrong with me and it's frustrating the hell outta me."

Abby felt Jamie relax under her finger tips and kept playing with his hair. A sigh escaped Jaime's lips, he sagged back against the sofa. Abby wasn't sure how long they sat there in silence, she just knew that she didn't care. Being with Jamie, it was even better than she had remembered. Abby couldn't fully appreciate their previous contact- or the intimacy of it- because of her fear and shock of what had just happened to her.
But this time she could enjoy it, she was sitting on his lap- he had pulled her on to his lap! He had held her hand! Surely that meant something? Anything? It did didn't it? Abby was afraid that she was over analyzing, she just really wanted this boy to like her. He had been the only thing on her mind since the Sunday morning when he left her. She had got a lot done, sure, she had made up with her friends, went to class. Went shopping, but during every free moment she would think of him. When she walked the halls she was consciously looking out for him. But she never saw him, he was never there, making Abby feel like maybe he was just like the knight in shining amour she imagined he was- imaginary.
But he was here, and Abby was sitting on his lap! And it was comfy.
Abby refrained from jumping when Jamie suddenly started talking out of the blue, claiming that she must be afraid of him, that if he were her he wouldn't be talking to him. Abby wasn't afraid of him! How could Jamie think that? Jamie was the good guy! He saved her. And he couldn't get her out of his head! Joy swelled up in Abby's chest like an inflated balloon, he seemed to be having as much trouble forgetting Abby as Abby had forgetting Jamie!
"I'm not afraid of you." Abby told Jamie, lifting his head slightly so that she was looking him directly in the eye. Her hand caressed his face. "How could I be afraid of the man who saved me. You're the good guy. And I know how you feel, its like, since I saw you last it doesn't matter what I've done you've been, I don't know, in the back of my mind. I needed to see you." Abby took a breath. "I'm glad you came tonight. I was beginning to think I just imagined you."

Jamie felt Abby's fingers continue to stroke his hair, something which no one had even done. Sure Jamie hugged people -only two people albeit- Rory and Xavier, but neither of them were ever affectionate like Abby was, never as caring or loving. To Jamie, it was a nice change of scene. When he felt her tilt his chin down so he was looking right at her, her hand cradling his face softly. He felt his heart jump at her words, the simple five words shattering his resolve to distance himself from these...feelings for the girl.
I'm not afraid of you... The words bounced around his head like a super rubber ball, ricochating off the insides of his mind as it seemed to make him freeze, stunned. When Abby continued to speak, the words which tumbled from her lips only made Jamie feel vulnerable...but so happy at the same time. She was thinking about him just as he was her! Jamie was glad to know that he wasn't the only one who had imagined...and experienced those strange feelings for the Ravenclaw girl, and vica versa. "No matter what I did the past few days...everything always led back to you Abby...always you...and that scared me..."
Jamie couldn't believe he, he Jamie Daven, was being vulnerable before this girl. He didn't want to show his weaknesses, he never showed anyone them. It scared him to know that he unconsiously just blurted out his true feelings to this girl without any thought at all. He didn't like that, he liked being protected, hell he didn't even tell his friends who were like his family what he was truely feeling. "You...I don't know what you've done to me Abby Cole but for fuck sake you are driving me insane!" Jamie whispered out, baring his teeth slightly in anger. He wasn't angry at Abby, never at her, he was so upset with himself.
He took one look at Abby's expression and lost himself, grabbing her face within his larger hands and roughly pressed his own against hers, attacking her lips almost ferosiously. He didn't stop, instead deepening the kiss easily as he let one hand drop from her face and slide down her back, settling down on her waist. Jamie pulled away only breifly before he just forced another heated kiss against the girl, murmering out against her lips, "you're mine..."

Jamie looked so confused, so vulnerable. It felt strange to Abby to see the strong and in control Slytherin in such a way. He told Abby that everything he had done since he met her led back to Abby, that he was afraid. She looked at him, his feelings made him afraid? [b["You don't need to be afraid."[/b] Abby whispered.
Jamie whispered back, telling her that he didn't know what she had done, but she was driving him insane. He was baring his teeth, his eyes angry, but Abby subconsciously knew that it wasn't her that he was mad at. He was just mad in general. But she didn't understand why, confusion swept her face. Then before Abby had any chance to think Jamie's lips has crashed against her own. A kiss filled with passion and emotion. Abby attempted to fight for dominance within the kiss, quickly backing down as Jamie's hands held her face, symbolising his control. Abby found that she didn't care. She just kissed him back, and in that moment she forgot that she was in a room full of people, she didn't care that her best friends could probably see her. She wasn't seeking anybodies approval. She was just there. In the moment. Her hands slipped to his front, she grabbed handfulls of Jamie's shirt.
They broke apart for a moment, one of Jamie's hands slipping from her face down to her waist, continuing his subconscious show of control and possession. His lips met her own again, still passionate and controlling, but this time it was different, there was something within this kiss, a pregnant pause almost. Jame whispered against Abby's lips, telling her that she was his.
Her heart fluttered madly, had he just said that? What did it mean? Were they... together now? Abby hoped so, as her heart raced, a beaming smile crept up to her face. He claimed her, he wanted her. No one ever wanted her. She was just plain old boring Abby and he wanted her! Not Caroline, not Juliet. Abby. She lent in and placed a soft, caring kiss against his lips, a contrast to the last two they had shared.
"Okay," She whispered. "But if I'm yours then does that mean that you're mine two?" There was a hint of teasing in Abby's tone, but really is was a serious question. If they were going to have anything then Abby had to know that Jamie didn't just say this to all the girls. It was possible, being as handsome as he was he had to have girls falling at his feat all the time.

Jamie watched as a wide smile bloomed across Abby's face, feeling her hands clenched at his shirt still from their previous kisses, his own still on her waist and cheek. The hand against her cheek slid back to tangle within her blond wavy locks as he felt her press a soft, tender kiss against his lips, the touch brief but filled with so much care and love it made Jamie's heart jump at the contact.
It seemed that he was a little out of place, having acted upon impulse when kissing Abby, spurred on by his tightly wound emotions but now that he leant back and calmed down, he realised just what he had done. He sat still, not knowing what to do next when Abby spoke again, making the Slytherin boy turn his head and look her in the eyes. He heard her teasing tone as he chuckled deeply, the hand in her hair carding through her long locks as he replied, "I say so...I've never done...all 'this' before" Jamie waved his hand between the two of them, a frown on his face.
He had never felt like this for anyone before, never having grown close enough to another person to considered to have 'feelings' for them. Jamie had never liked, let alone dated anyone before so he was a little iffy on the details on what pertained a relationship. He scrunched his brow together, his mind thinking it out as he said, "I...I would like for us to be...something. Whatever that means I haven't a damn clue but, I'd like for you to be uh...my whatever."

Jamie's hands were locked in Abby's hair, it was like he was staking his claim. Showing her and everyone else that she was his. He reacted so sweetly to her kiss, his shock at the tenderness was tangible on his face.
"I say so" Jamie told her, making it clear that they belonged to one another, Abby smiled. This was what she wanted. "...I've never done...all 'this' before" Abby watched as Jamie waved his hand between the two of them, a frown on his face.
"Neither have I," Abby reassured him, part of her glad that he hadn't been with anyone before. "We can learn together." She ran her hand over his face, it felt so natural. Jamie had obviously just shaved since his face was smooth, no trace of hair. She felt like she could just sit there in this moment for ever. With him. And Abby had never felt like this before. Sure she had kissed before, both while at Hogwarts and when out with Care sneaking into muggle nightclubs in summer. But she had never had feelings for a person like this before. What she had thought she felt for Jason dimmed in comparison. When she was with Jamie she forgot about everyone else, she didn't even feel like she was in a ball room filled with people right now. Abby didn't care that she was crushing her dress the way she was sitting on Jamie's lap. Jamie murmured, he seemed so nervous. He said he wanted them to be something, but he seemed to have no idea what.
"Your what? Your girlfriend?" Abby asked, hoping that he meant that rather than some kind of friends with benefits. That would crush her. "Because I would like that."

Jamie felt Abby run her hand over his face, suddenly glad he shaved for the ball. Sure, he usually had a bit of stubble from his neglect of shaving, but the feeling of Abby's soft palm against his face had him unconsiously rubbing his cheek within her cupped hand. Jamie squeezed the hand which was still in her hair tightly, gripping at her locks although careful not to hurt her as he pulled her forward once more, kissing her on the lips before pulling away once more, saying, "then...we'll learn together then..."
Jamie cocked his head to the side at Abby's suggestion, slowly nodding as he approved. He never had a 'girlfriend' so to speak, never having found anyone like that so he assumed when someone had these emotions for someone else they became 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend'. "I think that's what we're supposed to be..." Jamie said with a frown, continuing as he looked Abby in the eyes, the hand on her waist lifting to hold her small hand within his own, "Abby...will you be my uh-girlfriend?"

They were going to learn together, that was how it was going to be! Abby liked the sound of that. She was a little afraid of relationships. Of not knowing what to do, but if Jamie was just as naive as she was then they would figure it out together! A smile graced Abby's lips when Jamie kissed her again. He just made it feel perfect, life Abby meant. He made life feel perfect. Jamie frowned, referring to the girlfriend word, saying that that was what they were supposed to be. Abby was afraid, the frown on his face said to her that he didn't want to be with her in that way. Her heart felt heavy with grief. He didn't want her. She lowered her eyes, completely gutted. Jamie's hand reached for hers and Abby's eyes snapped up to meet his.
He he asked her to be his girlfriend throwing her completely off guard. She thought he didn't want that?
"Yes!" She replied, not even a breath after he asked. Her lips crashed against his, Abby pushed herself as close to Jamie as she could get, her hands on either side of his face. Abby was completely aware that she was snogging this boy in a room filled with so many other people, but for once in her goodiegoodie life Abby didn't care!
She eventually pulled away from the kiss to breath. She smiled at him, Abby's eyes bright with joy and enthusiasm.
"You want to dance?"

Jamie saw as Abby's face fell and her eyes dropped to her lap which was still sitting in his own. The Ravenclaw girl looked absolutely crest fallen and Jamie didn't know why, but at his posed question she seemed to perk up remarkably. He was unsure of what he had said before but now...well at least Abby was happy again if the smile on her lips was anything to go by. Seeing that, Jamie himself couldn't help but smile but felt the edges tug down slightly in nervous anticipation of her answer. He didn't have to wait long.
The moment he asked, her lips crashed against his own as she all but squealed out her approval as he hastily kissed her back, returning her rigour and taking the control of the kiss quickly. He felt Abby press up against his chest as her hands clutched at his face and he smirked into the kiss, knowing that Abby was his and his alone. As they soon pulled away for breath, having lacked it in their intense snogging session within the ballroom, well aware that the two were probably making a scene but neither caring really. Jamie only had eyes for Abby at the moment, although he noted the glare which he could feel at the back of his head, noting to find out later who was giving him the dirties.
At her question he frowned, never actually ever danced. Glancing out to the dance floor, it didn't look too hard but knowing Jamie who although had brilliant hand and eye co-ordination would probably make a fool of himself trying to...god forbid he'd ever think he'd say this but dance. Seeing the bright smile and excitment in his now girlfriends eyes he let a sigh escape his lips, his lip turning up slightly in the corner as he said, "...ok...just don't expect me to know how to. I've never...uh, danced before."
And so for the rest of the night they danced, Jamie awkwardly hunched as he tried to make himself less of an eye sore which really didn't work. His height made him stick out like a sore thumb and he hated the eyes which were on them. He snapped a fair few times at the onlookers, but all in all he enjoyed his dancing with Abby. And so, that was how they continued till the early hours of the morning when the ball finally came to an end.
